About the work
We were on vacation in the Ardennes and brought the painting supplies. I made this portrait and then two orange butterflies came to us. They flew around a bit first and then one sat on my wife's arm and the other sat on my arm. And they stayed there. When we got up from our chairs, they sat on the armrest of our chairs and stayed there for at least 10 minutes. I found that very special and for that reason, the idea arose to let that butterfly sit on the shoulder of this beautiful woman.
